After school today I held a Photopeach workshop for any staff interested. Greg, Morag, Lynda, Susan, Monique and myself were in attendance.
Monique helped out in a teaching capacity and we were able to set up photo displays for all the attendees and place them on their class blogs.
I also showed Greg how to embed a fancy blog background on to his blog.
A successful workshop. They all left with some new tools in their belt and some bling on their blogs.

Click It Workshop at Westbrook with Paula on 10th of March 2011
Today Monique, Shari and I attended Paula's 'Click It' Workshop. What a fantastic class. We learnt about a few programmes.
Photopeach which displays photos with accompanying music in a fun way.
Photofunia where you can superimpose a face into various situations and backgrounds.
I now have examples of the above on our class blog.
fotobabble is a talking photo - allows you to take a photo and accompany it with a recording. You can use fotobabble straight from iPad.
www.slider.com allows you to add pictures and written language to produce an ongoing slide, would be great when making books. YOu need to sign up for this programme.
www.picturetrail.com is a free sign up.
You upload photos to it in the first instance, then create a flick - flick designs which has fancy transitions and cool shapes and sound effects. This feature has a fabulous rotating cube.
I really loved this workshop. Learnt so much and really excited to get back in the classroom and show the kids how to use these programmes. I am also excited that I can actually use them with SUCCESS!!!

Paula's PD with Glenholme Staff - Wednesday 9th of March 2011
Today Paula worked one on one with staff for 45 minute blocks on blogging - Sue Caldwell, Jenny Burnett, Lynda Williamson and Sue Edwards.
In the afternoon Paula worked with me and gave me some tips on how to use the iPad. I forgot to say, YES, Nancy bought an iPad for the school last week and I get to play with it. It's very exciting. I love how simple it is to use. That everything is at your fingertips and comes to the fore by touching the pad. I wish I had more time to play with it and familiarise myself with it, however there seems to be so many other things I have to do.
After school Paula had a blogging session with any staff who wanted extra help. Lynda W, Jenny, Iain, Nancy, Shari, Sue C and I attended. Paula also showed us the Photopeach programme, which is a fabulous way to present photos. She also showed Iain and I how to create exciting template backgrounds for our blog at http://www.thecutestblogontheblock.com.
I spent all night dollying up my own blog with Photopeach and a cool looking background from the cutest blog website, and and am very happy with the results. I feel like I'm really learning and achieving in e-Learning this year with Paula's help. She's giving us very good PD with programmes we can use in our classrooms which are simple to use and which have great results.

e-Learning Community Meeting Monday 7th of March
I started with the inspirational piano video, which the staff enjoyed, I then shared Paula's wikipage and navigated around the pages to show staff where they could find resources to help them with their e-Learning journeys. www.paulaspages.wikispace.com
Monique then spoke about Superclubs Plus and how the programme worked where the children are learning about Cyber Safety and working on their own little social network.
Nancy then shared results from the e-Learning and SOLO survey she had issued to staff which identified what e-Learning and SOLO they had used so far this term. Most staff had been using define maps and very few of the other maps, which was a clear indication that staff need to move on and use other maps. Staff were also surprised to see how much e-Learning had actually been going on in classrooms which was nice to see. Still a lot of work to do.
A success is that everyone had their blog up and running today, which is great!
Staff then shared examples of SOLO that they had been done in the classroom. It's really good to see some staff really having a go at it. Sue Caldwell is really going hard out with SOLO and even using generalisation maps with her little juniors. Nice one!
All in all a very good meeting. Well done team!

e-Learning Workshop with Paula - RCICT and Town & Country Cluster Thursday 3 March 2011
Today both clusters met out at Mamaku. First the first part of the day we all shared our school e-Learning journeys. We also looked at the VLR website which is kind of like a facebook for teachers. I have signed up on it. Paula feels it's just another website that we'll have to attend to as we already have our own cluster wikis, plus Paula's wiki, however the Ministry has said that we must all sign up for this one.
We also looked at skyping each other. Paula showed us around her wiki site and shared some inspirational videos with us.
The two clusters tried to come to an agreement on how Paula's workshops would look in Term 2. Most of the Town and Country Cluster wanted PD during the school day, whereas our cluster wanted workshops after school.
Was a good day to catch up with the our cluster and make connections with teachers from the other cluster.
