What a full on day working with Julie! We had a mammoth task ahead of us, planning for the entire school over the next two years.
Amazing results, completed by 4pm and I love that we have a framework to work with over the next two years that gives us coverage right across the curriculum, which includes SOLO and integrates each curriculum topic within a term.
Very pleased with the outcome.

Visiting Auckland Schools Re: Solo Taxonomy Nov 2010
Another great trip with my cluster colleagues. We have become a tight bunch!
We visited three schools, Newmarket Primary, Halsey Drive Primary and ??????? will have to come back on that one.
Halsey Drive was the most impressive. The walls were plastered with evidence of SOLO teaching and learning examples from both children and the teachers. They ensured that the teachers were implementing and teaching SOLO examples when we observed in the classrooms. Classes from new entrants through to year 6 were fully engaged in SOLO Taxonomy pedagogy, using the language, HOT maps and rubrics. I would definitely recommend this school to any other schools thinking of taking on SOLO Taxonomy.
All teachers would benefit from visiting other schools like the above, especially junior teachers who feel SOLO is too hard to teach to new entrants. That's a myth after visiting Halsey, the babies were c0-constructing ideas using the Cause and Effect HOT map, not a Define map.
Lovely trip, both for learning opportunities and bonding with the cluster :)

ULearn10 Christchurch October 2010
What a fabulous trip with my cluster colleagues to Christchurch. The venues were top notch and the conference very well run.
On reflection, the trip was a great way to bond with the cluster and colleagues from Glenholme.
A couple of the breakouts weren't what I was expecting, but 4 out of 6 wasn't too bad.
The use of technology at the conference was amazing. I sat behind a guy who was typing flat out on his apple laptop, with his iPad perched on the stairwell and he just went back and forth from one to the other conversing on twitter with his iPad and working on something else on his laptop. I was surrounded by these amazing ICT techies and it felt good to be amongst such great forward thinkers in the field.
